CyberShare Summit Brings Industry Experts Together to Discuss Proactive Measures

The 2023 CyberShare Summit, an event hosted by CyberShare: The Small Broadband Provider ISAC, brought together more than 200 security, IT and network professionals to discuss and learn more about cybersecurity defenses and tactics, advancing the cyber workforce, and more.

At the Opening General Session, attendees heard from Brigadier General (USAF, Ret.) Gregory Touhill, who challenged them to expand their thinking about cybersecurity. There was a lively government agency panel that included staff from the FCC, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and Federal Bureau of Investigation who discussed the federal regulatory and legislative environment and who to contact if a company is experiencing a cybersecurity intrusion.

A panel of vendors discussed supply chain challenges and solutions and attendees were offered information about how to comply with upcoming cybersecurity regulatory requirements for Enhanced Alternative Connect America Cost Model elections and the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program. The summit concluded with CISA hosting a half-day tabletop exercise, successfully running through a ransomware threat scenario. The CyberShare Summit was a collaborative effort between ACA Connects, NRECA Broadband, NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association, Rural Wireless Association and WISPA–Broadband Without Boundaries — organizations representing the full spectrum of broadband providers. CyberShare is an Information Sharing and Analysis Center, recognized by the National Council of ISACs.

Joining CyberShare can also help companies demonstrate they meet the NIST Cybersecurity Framework’s information sharing criteria, which is a component of the cybersecurity and supply chain risk management requirements set forth by the FCC and National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
